Teaching Practice and Curriculum Design

My philosophy

A woman with brown shoulder-length hair, red lipstick, and patterned glasses, smiling for a selfie in front of a beach sunset mural and starfish decoration.

I believe in teaching that engages learners as active participants while honoring the whole person. My philosophy blends constructivist and humanist approaches to prepare future educators who are confident, compassionate, and ready for the field, while contributing to a workforce that is open, supportive, and inclusive of all individuals.

“Education should empower every learner with the independence and skills needed to pursue meaningful employment and a life of purpose.”

To strengthen instructional practice and streamline compliance, I have developed a variety of resources, including IEP templates and training modules. These tools help educators design meaningful, measurable goals, track progress effectively, and align instruction with both student needs and legal requirements. By sharing these resources, I aim to empower teachers to focus less on paperwork and more on meaningful instruction and student growth.

I am committed to preparing and mentoring the next generation of educators. Through my work with pre-service teachers, graduate students, and colleagues, I emphasize practical strategies, reflective practice, and the importance of empathy in the classroom. My goal is to ensure that every educator enters the field with confidence, compassion, and the skills needed to support diverse learners.
